This primary source basically summarizes the importance of paper money, and the artistic change that it experienced during the Jacksonian era. As big market capitalism began to boom, many people tended to ignore the dollar bill itself, and focus on its value as an object worth of barter. However, many can understand how the bills printed during that time could have been considered art. With variations from steamboats to railroads showed their pride toward the Industrial Revolution and the artistic ideas of transcendentalism and Romanticism were exquisitely represented on the bills printed.
This shows much significance because it represents the culture and society in that time period through something that was highly valued, but never appreciated, such as the dollar bill. The expressing visuals explained everything from Industrialization to artistic movements that changed America as a country and a rising super power.
